CorrLinks Text Messaging
Updated October 2026
Can you send a CorrLinks text message? Not directly. CorrLinks-style messaging is email-based, and inmates read it on computer terminals inside the facility — so you can’t simply text into it the way you’d text a friend’s cell number. ContactMeAsap bridges that gap: you text from your own phone, we deliver your message into your inmate’s TRULINCS/CorrLinks account, and their replies come back to you as ordinary text messages.

CorrLinks texting vs. official CorrLinks messaging
- Official CorrLinks/TRULINCS messagingis email-style. Your inmate reads and writes messages on a computer terminal inside the facility; it isn’t an app and it doesn’t run on a personal phone.
- CorrLinks texting through ContactMeAsaplets you use the text-message app you already have. We handle the TRULINCS/CorrLinks side of the connection, so you don’t need to create or manage a CorrLinks account yourself.
How CorrLinks SMS works with ContactMeAsap
- Find your inmate.Searching the BOP directory is free and needs no account. Live BOP verification shows your inmate’s name and facility before you pay.
- Add funds.Choose a plan and add funds to your balance. Once your payment is approved, you’ll get instructions by text and email covering exactly how to get texting up and running.
- Your inmate approves you.We provide an easy-to-remember email address that’s entered into your inmate’s TRULINCS account. BOP regulations require an approved contact list, so your inmate “text approves” you — a step that takes just moments once they have your information.
- Start texting.Text from your own phone. Replies come back as ordinary text messages — no separate app to check and no portal to log into.

Good to know before you text
- Your inmate has to add you to their approved contact list before messages go through. Exact limits and review timelines can vary by facility; the Bureau of Prisons publishes current policy at bop.gov.
- Federal institutions may monitor or restrict inmate communications, and availability can vary by facility.
- Delivery isn’t instant or guaranteed. Messages can be subject to facility review, which can take anywhere from minutes to days. See how long CorrLinks messages take.
- ContactMeAsap serves the federal system. State prisons and county jails typically use their own separate inmate communication platforms, so check with the facility if your loved one isn’t in federal custody.
CorrLinks text messaging: quick answers
Is there a CorrLinks SMS number?
No. CorrLinks isn’t a phone or SMS system, so there’s no CorrLinks number to text. With ContactMeAsap you text an ordinary phone number from your own phone — see CorrLinks phone number for the full explanation.
Do I need my own CorrLinks account to text my inmate?
Not with ContactMeAsap. We add your contact email to your inmate’s TRULINCS account and handle the TRULINCS-side setup, so there’s no separate portal for you to manage.
How do replies work?
When your inmate responds through TRULINCS, the reply comes back to you as an ordinary text message on your phone, in the same conversation as any other text.
